Each year for three days over the 3rd weekend in June, the majestic setting of the Ring Square in the heart of the historical Biel-Bienne old town, with its exceptional acoustics, plays host to orchestras of international renown as well as local and national bands of high quality as they perform on stage to the enthusiastic delight of its Dixie and Swing audience.

Solidly based around a musical programme of real substance, Bienne Old Town Open-Air Jazz is one of the top ten trad jazz festivals in Switzerland. In 2011 the festival will be celebrating its fifth jubilee. With an increasingly important budget, an organising committee of five volunteers, 30 members of staff, permanent offices, thousands of tickets sold each year and significant media coverage, Bienne Old Town Open-Air Jazz has become an unmissable event.

The Ring Square is also accomodating various restaurants and bars, whose terraces provide a unique and relaxed atmosphere in which to lose oneself in the music.
